Students at Risk: Substance Abuse in Yeshivot~
Jewish Education Facing the Challenge
On Sunday, April 30th over 150 Jewish educators and other related
professionals gathered in Jerusalem for a day-long conference on
"Substance Abuse in Yeshivot." The Forum for Inquiry and Deliberation in Jewish Education, ATID's branch for fostering and furthering serious
thought and policy in the critical areas facing Jewish education, was proud to sponsor a conference for educators and communal leaders on this
extremely serious issue within our community.
Participants in the program heard leading experts in their fields address the issues from both clinical and educational perspectives. In order to
foster serious discussion among the participants the program included significant time for group discussion in each session, as well as the
opportunity to meet with colleagues over dinner.
The Program consisted of the following sessions:
Session I: The Clinical View
Yonah Pollak
